About Us

Dr Chris Hem started in Wantirna at 145 Stud Rd in 1993. Then, Mt Waverley practice was established in 2003 with Dr Christine Chan and Bright Smile Dental Surgery  was born. He then changed premises from Stud Rd to 3 Templeton St in 2005.
We are a small friendly family practice who aim to serve our patients and satisfy them 100%. We are happy that our practice has grown through “word of mouth” referrals over the years. We have always believed that if any patient is unhappy with any aspects of the treatment, they are welcomed to approach us so that the issue can be resolved promptly. Very often, it could simply be a misunderstanding.
Between the two dentists present, we have all the specialties covered, thus able to offer more affordable in-house treatment rather than needing to refer our patients to specialists. We take an interest in our patients’ general well being and thus have regular ongoing training to keep up with the latest research and techniques. We have a very STRICT X-INFECTION protocol. Staff are kept up to date with the latest requirements every year. All instruments are sterilized after every patient or disposed of if they are disposable items. Plastic barriers are used on every surface that are touched.

“ Over the years practicing as a dentist, I still enjoy all disciplines it offers.  The greatest satisfaction that i get is seeing the smile imparted to my patient at the end of every visit. The practice that Dr Christine Chan and i have set up focused on a caring, friendly patient experience. We strive to ensure that our patients enjoy, understand their treatment and to achieve results which exceed their expectations. I have special interests in cosmetic dentistry, minor oral surgeries and orthodontics. ”
